The rarest events in the game..

Watching the Cubs OBLITERATE the Marlins tonight, I started thinking about what the rarest events in the game were. Here's my shortlist in a guessed at order of rarity...

The Shutout
The No-Hitter
The Triple Play
The Cycle
The Perfect Game

What else?

The rarest of rare has to be:

Coming back from 0-3 in the ALCS to win the series 4-3... over the Yankees no less!

Oh wait, you meant in a single game didn't you?

    ;)

    cheers,

There may be a more recent one, but because I'm a Phillies fan, Mickey Morandini's unassisted triple play immediately came to mind. 1992

» September 20, 1992: Phillies 2B Mickey Morandini becomes the 9th player in history to turn an unassisted triple play in Philadelphia's 13 inning 3–2 loss to the Pirates. With runners on 1st and 2nd in the 6th inning, Morandini caught Jeff King's line drive, stepped on 2nd to double up Andy Van Slyke, and tagged out Barry Bonds, who was running from 1st

Randy Velarde did it, I think he was with the As at the time.
Also to add to the list Two Grand Slams in a game and Two Grand Slams in an inning.

» May 29, 2000: The Yankees defeat the A's Olivares, 4-1, on Pettitte's 2-hitter. In the 6th inning, Oakland 2B Randy Velarde turns an unassisted triple play, just the 11th in history, on a line drive by Shane Spencer. With runners on 1st and 2nd running with the pitch, Velarde tags Jorge Posada as he nears 2B, then touches the bag to retire Tino Martinez. In 1995, while with the Yankees, Velarde turned an unassisted triple play against the Dodgers in spring training following the strike.

I know Von Hayes hit 2 HR in an inning when he first came to the Phils. It wasn't 2 Grand Slams, though it was one of the highest scoring games I've ever seen.

June 11, 1985: Von Hayes becomes the first ML player ever to hit two home runs in the first inning, leading off with a home run, off Tom Gorman, and capping a 9-run outburst with a grand slam, as the Phillies go on to rout the Mets 26–7. Mets relievers Joe Sambito (3 innings) and Calvin Schiraldi (1.1 innings) both give up 10 runs apiece. The 26 runs in one game is a club record and the most in the National League since 1944

A batter reaching base safely three times in one inning. Only has been done once!

hitting that homer, basses fully loaded and the stadium is all quiet evey fan stunned in excitement. (I used to be a tomboy...daddy made me do little league and my first homer strike in little league age 9 or 10 somewhere around there) I got a pick of this too what a feeling that was... i heard the huaaaaaaas in the crowd and not a sound till i got to home plate...still plays like a dream or something back in my head...

I could look it up myself but I am lazy. You always hear about hitting streaks and Joe D's record of 56 straight and how it might be the hardest record to break, etc. I'm not really interested in debating that. My question is what is the record for a consecutive game hitting streak with at least 2 hits in each game?
